After running the first SharePoint Framework live workshop in September, reflecting on the experience, and listening carefully to student feedback, I’m excited to announce a completely revamped version launching in January 2026.
The feedback was clear: developers loved the content, but the compressed one-week format left some topics feeling rushed. Many wanted more time to digest the material and dive deeper into production-ready patterns. Others were primarily interested in web parts and didn’t need the extension content.
Andrew's SharePoint Framework starter workshop was exactly what I needed to get started with SPFx. There was a great deal of valuable information, and the course was thoughtfully structured. I highly recommend anyone starting with SPFx to sign up with Voitanos.

What’s Changed
The biggest change? The workshop is now split into two distinct weeks, and you can choose what fits your needs.
Week 1 (January 13-15) focuses entirely on getting started with SPFx, building client-side web parts, working with React and Fluent UI, and mastering data access patterns. This gives you a solid foundation without the rush.
Week 2 (January 20-22) dives deep into SPFx extensions—all four types—plus production deployment strategies, performance optimizations, and the tips and tricks I’ve learned from years of building enterprise solutions.
There was a lot of information to cover and absorb, but Andrew is a professional at helping you understand. He is a perspicuous teacher who makes one understand the topic and/or reason why to do something, which for me helps me learn with interest. Great job, Andrew!

Empower With IT Solutions IncHere’s what this means for you:
- If you’re primarily focused on building web parts, you can enroll in just Week 1 for $199 (early bird pricing).
- If you want the full experience including how to customize SharePoint’s entire user experience through extensions, you can take both weeks for $399 (early bird pricing).
Compare that to the previous workshop: one compressed week for $349 with no flexibility.
Why This Format Works Better
The original workshop tried to cover everything in three intense days. While students consistently rated the content highly, many mentioned feeling overwhelmed by the pace. Some topics—particularly around production deployment strategies, performance optimization, and external library management—deserved more attention than a compressed schedule allowed.
By spreading the content across two weeks with the same three-day format each week, I’ve created breathing room. We can spend more time on the concepts that matter most. You’ll have time between sessions to experiment, ask questions in our private community, and really absorb the material.
This also addresses another common request: more focus on production-ready applications. In Week 2, I’ve dedicated an entire session to production patterns, optimizations, and real-world tips that go beyond what Microsoft’s documentation covers. This is the stuff that separates hobby projects from enterprise-grade solutions.
This workshop was incredibly helpful! I went from knowing little about the SharePoint Framework to confidently building my first web part in just a few hours. I now have the skills to create customized user experiences for our SharePoint sites.

LeasePlanWhat Hasn’t Changed
Everything students loved about the original workshop remains intact:
You still get live instruction, hands-on demos, and interactive discussions in every session. All sessions are still recorded with eight weeks of access. You still get complete source code for every demo. And you still get access to our private student community where you can ask questions and connect with other SPFx developers.
Most importantly, you’re still learning from someone who’s been working with the SharePoint Framework since before its public release in 2017—someone who’s seen every evolution and knows where the documentation falls short.
Andrew’s 'Learn the SharePoint Framework' workshop was exceptional. The content was rich with real-world examples and actionable tips. His passion for teaching really shines through, and he explains complex concepts clearly, ensuring everyone stays engaged. It was absolutely time and money well spent. I highly recommend it! My favorite part of the workshop was how Andrew uses his hand gestures to explain concepts, almost like watching an artist create a masterpiece before our eyes. It made the SharePoint Framework not only easier to grasp but genuinely enjoyable to learn. I can’t recommend this workshop enough, hands down, one of the best I’ve ever attended!

The two-week structure also creates a natural learning progression. Week 1 gives you the fundamentals you need to start building. If that’s all you need right now, great—you’ve got a complete foundation for $199.
But when your organization needs you to customize SharePoint’s user interface with application customizers, or you need to add custom buttons to list toolbars, or you want to control how list fields render—that’s when you’ll want Week 2. And you can add it anytime, even after completing Week 1.
This flexibility matters in the real world. Not everyone needs extensions immediately. But when you do need them, you’ll have the deep, production-focused training that goes far beyond surface-level tutorials.
Built on Real Student Experiences
This redesign isn’t theoretical. It’s based on direct feedback from developers who took the original workshop:
“There was a lot of information to cover and absorb,” one student told me. That’s exactly right—and now we have the time to absorb it properly.
Another student specifically praised how I explain not just what to do, but why—helping them “understand the topic and/or reason why to do something.” The new format gives us even more time for those crucial explanations that turn memorization into true understanding.
The 3-day SPFx course delivered a wealth of high-quality content, led by an instructor with deep expertise in the SharePoint Framework. The hands-on labs and tutorials were especially valuable, packed with practical tips. I came away with a significantly stronger grasp of SPFx development and a clear path forward. Highly recommended for professionals ready to immerse themselves in a fast-paced, content-rich learning experience.
